Education Guild

The thematic framework of the research of the Education Guild 2023-2024 has been situated around the family workshop as a format of institutional educational mediation. The starting point was a reflection on the agency exercised by the different formats of institutional educational mediation. The starting point has been a reflection on the agency exercised by the different formats of educational mediation, both in issuers and receivers, and the questioning of these formats as neutral negotiators between the artistic object, the institution and the social context in which they are inserted. As a Guild of Education we have proposed to take the family workshop as an object of study in order to look for evidence of the different agencies they exercise with the aim of extrapolating the necessary questions to reflect on the policies exercised by the mediations we design.
 

In turn, this reflection also raises questions related to the normative idea of family, and we consider that this format expands the concept of family towards a space in which to nurture new cultural practices in relation to emotional ties and cures, which open the door to new relational possibilities.
 

Thus, although the term "family workshop" refers to a very specific praxis of museums and art centres, the research proposed by the guild alludes, in absolute terms, to the relationship established between the art institution and the family institution.
