CREATION AND EXPERIMENTATION

The Mòniques are artists-in-residence at Santa Mònica who experiment in the relational or participatory field in a collective and transdisciplinary way, organized into seven guilds: communication, digitalization, publishing, education, spaces, gastronomy, and participation.

Selected annually through a public call, they develop prototypes of artistic mediation devices to open up the center’s content, discourses, and questions to diverse audiences.

Research groups are spaces of thought that explore contemporary issues and concerns. Instead of creating concrete works, they function as idea laboratories that influence everything done at the center. Their research is transformed into ideas and strategies that are tested in the center as an institutional laboratory, opening new avenues for expanding them into other fields.

We aim to be a center for artistic research and the activation of experimental processes. To do so, we focus on merging theory and practice in all of our projects, creating spaces for continuous research and experimentation, trial and error. In #SantaMònicaPerDins, we try to explain the complexity of these processes and everything happening at the center, in real time and through the multiple voices and bodies that inhabit it and make it what it is.
