RESIDENT ARTISTS 2022/2023

At the Participation Guild, we understand that mediation is immersed in all the actions that cultural managers, artists and educators carry out around artistic practice. Participation acts as a bridge between programming and audiences or communities, but also, inversely, by listening to the immediate environment, its potential and needs, to seek to articulate the proposals developed and carry out new exchanges. Our practices are a link in and out.

We seek to shorten distances between Santa Monica as an institution and the cultural production and thought that surrounds it, to generate devices of permeability and dialogue with the network of public and social agents that form part of community life in Barcelona. Through a cartography of the immediate context we want to weave alliances with other educational and community spaces and institutions around the centre, regardless of their scale.

We believe in qualitative rather than quantitative indicators, in participation strategies that prioritise the creation of knowledge and alliances based on organic rhythms that can germinate into long-term quality relationships beyond the dynamics and management of the centre.
