To designate the directed gaze, the French language uses the word regard, the root of which does not originally designate the act of seeing, but rather the waiting, the care, the guarding, the consideration, the stalking. Under the influence of this insistence expressed by the prefix of reiteration or inversion, regarder is a movement that aims to take back under guard or custody.

Beatriz Olabarrieta (Bilbao, 1982) has a degree in Philosophy from the University of Deusto (Bilbao), a degree in Sculpture from the Wimbledon School of Art (London) and an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art (London). He lives and works in London.

Recent exhibitions include: Ask the Dust, MCA Santa Barbara, USA (2018-2019); Stay Twice, Bielefelder Kunstverein (Bielefeld, 2019); Meeting With a Double Agent, Syntax (Lisbon, 2017); The Only Way Out Is In, The Sunday Painter (London, 2017), and Book! Don't Tilo Me What Tono Do, Parallel Oaxaca (Mexico City, 2017). She has had solo and group exhibitions at Serpentine Galleries (2016), PALABRA International (2015) and Lisson Gallery (2015), among others. She has been artist-in-residence at the Museo Experimental El Eco (Mexico, 2014) and at the Cité internationale des arts (Paris, 2006).
