Africa Moment presents DEGLULEN ÀDDUNA BI, an audiovisual cartography where sound and image intertwine to trace the experience of Maguette Dieng and her link with Senegal, her family's birthplace. Through field recordings and sound archives of the place, echoes of memories, voices and affective geographies emerge, weaving a dialogue between the individual and the collective. In a deep listening format, the experience invites us to immerse ourselves in sonic narratives that oscillate between identity and future dreams, while sound and visuals give shape to a territory in constant transformation, one that resists the clutches of globalism and still preserves its irreducible essence.
Maguette Dieng is a sound artist, DJ and music programmer from Barcelona who is dedicated to music and sound diffusion on several fronts. On the one hand, she DJs and selects under the name Mbodj, playing in different venues and festivals both in her city and internationally. On the another hand, she is co-founder of the Jokkoo collective, an Afrodiasporic musical collective that works with music and sound in a wide range of ways, be it with her own musical productions, the organisation of events, workshops, sound pieces, radio programmes, etc.
The motivating force behind Maguette's work has a lot to do with transforming the Western view of electronic and advanced music, how Africa has always played an important role within it, and how we can create community and possibility through sound.
