Renaldo & Clara. The name comes from an extravagant film directed by Bob Dylan in the late seventies, and behind it is the Lleida-based singer and songwriter Clara Viñals. She has a whispery voice that is both candid and sensible, a voice that caresses the ears. Her songs are subtle, brimming with details about endless days, sunflowers and paths. The tunes of Renaldo & Clara seem sweet at first, but their interior universe can be as heartrending as the most painful, bloodiest deceptions. Hailing originally from Terres de Ponent, their recipe calls for acoustic, melancholy pop.
The Free Fall Band. The Free Fall Band is carving a niche for itself among the newcomers because of their ability to come up with timeless pop melodies. Fun and thrills in equal parts, painstaking arrangements down to the last detail and a youthful, brazen spirit are the hallmark of this Maresme-based band. In 2013, the young quintet moved to the top of the Spanish pop charts. Their first record, an heir to psychedelia and Beatlemania, was entitled Elephants Never Forget. It was produced by Miqui Puig, the person who truly discovered them, and it paved the way for the delicate The Münster Sights, produced by Darren Hayman (Hefner) with Giles Barret (Tigercats) as the sound engineer.
